Vandalism at John Bator Park gazebo

May 14, 2012 by Michael Caron

Once again vandals have done damage to the gazebo at John Bator Park.  Bracing near the roof was kicked out and graffiti including racial slurs had been written. The graffiti has been removed but the bracing will need to be repaired. The Easthampton Police have been contacted and are investigating. If you see any type of vandalism or illegal dumping on our properties please do not hesitate to contact PCT.

Bald Eagle Sighting

April 30, 2012 by Michael Caron

This post provided via email by Don McQuillan — In February I was walking the the “Old Pascommuck/ Florence Smith Trail and Valerie and I were surprised to see two bald eagles searching the banks of the Oxbow for food. The pair of eagles continued along the bike path at a low elevation to Lower Pond and were photographed munching on a dead fish on the ice of Lower Mill Pond (photos were on Facebook). As we walked north on the bike path back to Ferry Street the pair of eagles could be seen heading back toward the Conn. River riding the thermal air currents between East Street and the Mount Tom Reservation. We stopped walking and watched as the eagles glided north …. I witnessed a very similar sight while fishing in Alaska – actually this one was much better.
