PCT’s 40th Anniversary Celebration

July 4, 2022 by Michael Caron

PCT’s 40th Anniversary celebration was attended by about 50 people. There were 5 different speakers to open up the festivities. John Velis, State senator, Mike Tautznik, former Easthampton mayor, Jeff Bagg, Easthampton City planner and Robert McDonald, Angel Monument Director all spoke of the importance of having PCT as part of the community. Summaries of the speakers’ speeches can be found at The Reminder Easthampton link. John Bator, President of the Trust then spoke of the history and vision of the Trust and he followed his speech by playing “Save the Pond” song with a backup chorus. A YouTube video of the performance can be found here. A detailed timeline put together by several board member was on display as well as a special 40th anniversary celebratory trail map describing 8 of the PCT properties and trails. A pdf of the 1982 to 2022 timeline can be viewed/downloaded here.

Children who attended were able to paint their own small porcupines.

Our thanks to Mt Tom Ice Cream for the donation of PCT Porcupine Parfait ice cream specially made for the event and to Northampton Rental Center for the donation of the speaker/microphone and podium.

Memorial Benches installed on several PCT properties

December 27, 2021 by Michael Caron

Memorial benches have been placed at Broad Brook Meadows, Edward Dwyer, and Pomeroy Meadows conservation areas. There is continuing interest in purchasing Memorial Benches from the Trust. There are still some spots with excellent views available. The purchase of a bench helps the Trust maintain the property and public trails. If you are interested please use our contact form and someone from the Trust will be glad to help you.
An informational brochure can be downloaded here for further information.

A Little Help From Our Friends Please

April 26, 2020 by Michael Caron

Dear Friends of the Pascommuck Conservation Trust:

During this Covid-19 pandemic, the Trust has worked very hard to keep our trails open to the public with regular maintenance, welcome signs, and reminders to keep a safe distance between hikers while enjoying our properties.

Due to the unprecedented Stay Home directives over the past month, everyone is happy to get outdoors even for a little while.  During this time, however, the use of our trails is much heavier than normal and because so many are enjoying the trails, they are even more in need of regular maintenance.  This has become very costly for the Trust and many of our planned special projects for our nine properties will be suffering unless we get a little help from our friends.  Like many local organizations, one of our special fund raisers, the Spring Plant Sale, had to be postponed in order to keep everyone safe.  We are optimistic that we will be able to schedule the Fall Plant Sale once the safe re-open begins.  In the meantime, however, funds are short and we need your help.

As you may know, the Pascommuck Conservation Trust is made up entirely of volunteers, neighbors and friends who appreciate the value of our treasured sites and work very hard to keep them manageable for all to enjoy.  We realize that these are very difficult times for everyone, emotionally and financially, too.  If you would like to help the Trust by making a contribution, large or small, to our Maintenance Endowment Fund, we would greatly appreciate it.  Contributions may be made through Network For Good here or directly mailed to the Trust at PO Box 806, Easthampton, MA 01027.

Thank you very much.  Together we will keep our trails open for everyone.

The Board of Directors
Pascommuck Conservation Trust, Inc.
