Annual Meeting

Agenda:
· Short Business Meeting
· Round-up of 2018 Trust Activities
· Goals/projects for 2019
· Feature Presentation: ” What’s the Big Deal With Invasive Plants?” by Tom Lautzenheiser, a Mass Audubon’s Central/Western Regional Scientist and a board member of the Pascommuck Conservation Trust since 2003.

Got Japanese knotweed, glossy buckthorn, Oriental bittersweet, black swallowwort, or garlic mustard in your neighborhood? You’re not alone; these invasive plants are common in the Easthampton area. In addition to being generally weedy, invasive plants can alter the basic ecological characteristics of an area, leading to a cascade of environmental damage. Learn about some of the subtle and not-so-subtle effects of invasive plants, the importance of native plant communities, and alternatives for restoring affected areas.
